Illustrator makes Grannie Annie history Wentzville School District and 70 West Sentinel took note of a 2018 Grannie Annie published illustrator's newsworthy accomplishment: three illustrations published in a single volume of Grannie Annie: Grannie Annie, Vol. 13. The three family stories illustrated by this accomplished artist are "Sammy's Rough Road Trip" by Isabel Draper, "SOS — Saving Our Sand Dune" by Carolista Walsh (also featured on the book cover) and "Candy Thieves" by Ella Munz.
Grannie Annie students in St. Charles County schools honored Five published Grannie Annie students from two schools in St. Charles County, Missouri, were celebrated in the Mid Rivers Newsmagazine.

Family Stories Festival on Facebook Photographs of the 2018 Family Stories Festival have been added to The Grannie Annie's Facebook page. Twenty-four young people took the stage at the Missouri History Museum in St. Louis, Missouri, on June 3 to celebrate Grannie Annie, Vol. 13, and the nearly 1,000 students who took part in The Grannie Annie this year. Selected photos from the Festival, and images of this year's story illustrations, will be added to this website soon. The video recording of the Festival is being processed for posting on YouTube, and is expected to be available in a few weeks. Please watch this page for more information as it becomes available. June 3: Author Readings, Artist Talks, Art Exhibit, Book Signing We hope you are making plans to join us for the next part of The Grannie Annie's 2017/2018 celebration: the annual Family Stories Festival. This heartwarming family program is presented in collaboration with the Missouri History Museum and will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2:00 – 4:00, at the Missouri History Museum in St. Louis. All students who participated in The Grannie Annie this year are invited to take part in the program, which includes author readings and artist talks by students published in Grannie Annie, Vol. 13, plus an exhibit of art published in this year's book, and a book signing reception. Grannie Annie, Vol. 13, is here! This year's collection of historical family stories is now available! Grannie Annie, Vol. 13, includes thirty-five stories chosen to represent the 528 stories shared with The Grannie Annie this year. Twelve of the stories are illustrated by students in the same age group. Stories in this year's volume took place in ten states and thirteen countries over a span of 130 years. 5/15/18

The Selected Stories Congratulations to this year's 36 soon-to-be-published authors! It is a true honor for these young people to be published in Grannie Annie, Vol. 13, as The Grannie Annie received 528 historical family stories from authors in eight states — and each story touched our volunteer readers in its own special way. Again this year, three editions of the annual volume will be available — an eBook edition, a PDF edition, and a paperback edition. The 36 memorable stories included in Grannie Annie, Vol. 13, will also be published on this website, and shared through Facebook and Twitter throughout the year following.
Celebrate the Stories! The stories! The stories have arrived: from Idaho, to Alabama, to New York! Thank you to all students, parents, and teachers who have submitted family stories. Nearly forty volunteers are in the process of reading and enjoying the 528 stories received this year. Stories will be read and reread as the selection committee decides which stories will be published in Grannie Annie, Vol. 13. The titles of the stories chosen for publication and the names of their authors will be announced on this website page in early March. The Stories are Arriving! The map below will be updated as family stories and story illustrations arrive from this year's Grannie Annie storykeepers. Stories and illustrations can be submitted at any time throughout the year. Please see the Submit Stories page for details. The story submission deadline for Grannie Annie, Vol. 13, is February 1, 2018; the illustration submission deadline is March 1, 2018. You Can Listen Now, to The Grannie Annie on the Radio You can listen now to The Grannie Annie's radio interview that aired live on November 22, on St. Louis Public Radio, KWMU (90.7 FM). Hear a Grannie Annie author published in Grannie Annie, Vol. 12, read her family story about her great-grandfather's experience on an orphan train, and talk about her "Grannie Annie experience." You'll also hear a discussion of The Grannie Annie and the value of family stories. Please Join The Grannie Annie on the Radio—Wednesday, Nov. 22 You're invited to join The Grannie Annie in the sharing of family stories on St. Louis on the Air on KWMU (90.7 FM), St. Louis's National Public Radio affiliate. We'll be talking about the many reasons to discover, preserve, and share family stories. We plan to share a variety of stories from Grannie Annie, Vol. 12, published this past May. A published student author will be in the studio to talk about her "Grannie Annie experience"—about discovering and writing the story of her great-grandfather's childhood, which included a trip west on an Orphan Train. The program will air live at 12:00 noon CST on Wednesday, November 22, and The Grannie Annie's part will come soon after a brief local news segment. The program will be rebroadcast at 10:00 p.m. that night. It is possible to listen online. We invite you to phone or e-mail KWMU during the show to share a family story or to let listeners know what you think is important about sharing family stories. Contact information will be provided during the show.
