The Selected Stories

Congratulations to this year's 38 soon-to-be-published authors! It is a true honor for these young people to be published in Grannie Annie, Vol. 12, as The Grannie Annie received 522 historical family stories from authors in eight states — and each story touched our volunteer readers in its own special way.

Again this year, three editions of the annual volume will be available — an eBook edition, a PDF edition, and a paperback edition. The 38 memorable stories included in Grannie Annie, Vol. 12, will also be published on this website, and shared through Facebook and Twitter throughout the year following.

3/9/17

Celebrate the Stories!

From Colorado to Alabama to New York — Grannie Annie stories have arrived from across the country! The map below shows from which eight states stories have been received.

Through the upcoming weeks, the 521 submitted stories will be read and appreciated — then read and reread as the selection committee decides which stories will be published in Grannie Annie, Vol. 12. The titles of the stories chosen for publication and the names of their authors will be announced on this website page in early March. The names of illustrators whose work is chosen for publication will be announced here in mid-April. You can also follow the news on The Grannie Annie's Facebook page.

For now, let the celebration continue! What does your Grannie Annie celebration include? Visit "The Grannie Annie Extension Activities" for inspiration, or send us your ideas to be added to the page.

Join The Grannie Annie on the Radio on Monday, Dec. 19

For the twelfth consecutive year, The Grannie Annie will be on St. Louis on the Air on KWMU (90.7 FM), St. Louis's National Public Radio affiliate, to talk about the many reasons to discover, preserve, and share family stories.

We plan to share a variety of stories from Grannie Annie, Vol. 11, published in May. The author will also read her published story.

The program will air live at 12:00 noon CST on Monday, December 19, during the first segment of a two-segment program. The program will be rebroadcast at 10:00 p.m. that night. It is possible to listen online.

We invite you to phone or e-mail KWMU during the show to share a family story or to let listeners know what you think is important about sharing family stories. Contact information will be provided during the show.

When the link to the archived program becomes available it will be provided on this web page.
